I am writing this series to provide a detailed inside account of a behavior modification program, from the point of view, not of an expert, but of a young person. I want to close the information gap, disrupt the secrecy, and document – in the most realistic way that words can allow – my time at Rocky Mountain Academy. I had a choice. I could do nothing, trying to ‘move on and get over’ the theft of my personal autonomy and self-determination when I was a kid. Or I could tell a wild true story, with a message that can effect change for troubled teens and their families.
